Carlsbad is the go-to family community along the North San Diego County coast. Being just a quick commute to downtown San Diego and only two hours from Los Angeles, Carlsbad is a commuter’s dream. Carlsbad is a wonderful community for families of all ages because of its close proximity to world-class beaches and various kid-approved activities. It is a very close-knit and well-kept town with a top-rated school district. A popular tourist destination in the summers and a notable home for many businesses in the golf industry, you’ll fall in love with this gorgeous town.

 

Known for Tamarack Surf Beach and the secluded South Carlsbad State Beach, this town becomes a surf and sand haven in the summer. The nearby LEGOLAND California theme park includes rides, a water park, and an aquarium. The Flower Fields is a seasonal attraction with acres of flowers, and the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park is home to free-roaming peacocks and is a great place to walk around on the weekends.

Carlsbad offers the glamour of Orange County living with the laid-back atmosphere of nearby San Diego. The beaches are a major draw to many new residents, as well as the perfectly pleasant coastal climate all year round. Carlsbad is full of young families who love utilizing the well-kept parks and local beaches to take advantage of the surf and sand with their children. Many citizens take up surfing, swimming, windsurfing, and biking. Residents form a close-knit community and have pride in their town.

 

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Shorehouse Kitchen is a local favorite for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks, and the French toast can’t be beaten! Blackrail is another local favorite if you’re looking for Mediterranean fare. Ember & Rye has a gorgeous bar area and serves up delicious steaks and fresh seafood daily. Ebullition Brew Works is a popular place to grab a beer or a burger. The award-winning Vigilucci's is the premiere spot for fine, authentic Italian cuisine with sweeping views of the ocean. 

 

Beach Plum Kitchen is a popular lunch and brunch spot beloved for its Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! Tin Leaf is a fantastic healthy joint right in the center of town.


Just a couple miles away, the Carlsbad Premium Outlets and The Forum Shopping Center host well-known chain stores and charming, local boutiques.

 

Things to Do

While the Carlsbad beaches are the most highly sought-after place for recreation, there are also many other things to do in town.

 

Golf-lovers should be sure to check out the La Costa golf course, the host of 37 past PGA Tour events. The Omni La Costa Resort and Spa is a popular, high-end resort that offers golf and spa packages and hosts out-of-town guests. LEGOLAND is a hugely popular amusement park and experience for kids with rides, exhibits, and an aquarium.


Be sure to check out The Flower Fields, located just a couple of miles away. The views are incredible, and kids love running through the meadows and taking in the gorgeous flora.

 

Schools

The Carlsbad Unified School District manages two high schools, three middle schools, and nine elementary schools. In addition, they operate two alternative/private schools.
